Finance

Owning and running your own business can be very gratifying and rewarding.  When looking to get new investors interested or take out a bank loan or over-draft, it is necessary to put forward an accurate and promising overview of your business finances and potential for growth.  Rothsay has extensive experience in capital raising and will advise you on precisely what background information you need to prepare and how best to present this to be successful in raising new finance.  We will advise you on the best possible option to choose and the most appropriate source of finance;  then help you create a highly professional and appealing proposal that will get the best possible results.

Sources of raising finance include

  • Investment funds from family or friends, supported by written loan agreements setting out this business investment
  • An overdraft or loan from your Bank. A loan is usually a longer-term choice that is suitable for growth purposes, while an overdraft is often suitable for a variable cash shortfall or temporary requirements
  • Personal funding such as funds from re-mortgaging your home or the sale of assets, or from savings
  • Government assistance – which can be cash grants, tax concessions, subsidised rents, or funds for relocation, or purposes such as training. We advise that you comprehensively investigate and consider your options and possibilities open to you in an ever-changing financial environment
  • Alternative financial sources, which can include debenture loans to venture capital, which for example can be provided by the Enterprise Investment Scheme or Regional Venture Capital Funds. Other possible sources can be venture capital finance, or finances from other financial institutions

Start-ups

Australia is a nation of entrepreneurs, with many start-ups and entrepreneurs striking out on their own and building businesses from the ground up. Without timely and accurate data on hand, a business may crash and burn in even less than a year after it gets out of the starting gate.

Rothsay provides invaluable support and professional services for start-ups to make sure that crucial data is updated and available anytime and anywhere to help you generate useful reports, monitor your cashflow, gauge and track your business and financial performance and set realistic budgets and targets.

Export market development grants

The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is a key Australian Government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters.

EMDG encourages small and medium sized Australian businesses to develop export markets through reimbursing up to 50 per cent of eligible export promotion expenses above A$5,000, provided that the total eligible expenses incurred amount to at least A$15,000.

Rothsay can advise you on your eligibility and assist with lodging an EMDG application in helping you secure the benefits from this government program.
